Acknowledge our predecessors.
By an uncanny coincidence, the path took me through a “doubly thankful” village this week. Uncanny because yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the 11th hour, 11th day of the 11th month, when WW1 ended. There are only 14 doubly thankful villages in all England and Wales – none in Scotland and Ireland, and just one in France. Out of thousands. Villages where the young men and women went off to WW1 and WW2 and they all returned home. This gives a sense of the enormous destruction of lives from these wars. Across the world. Let's protect what they sacrificed their lives for: freedom.
